Road Trip!

Made my way up north to check in on all of my Sacramento Area clients as well as meet a couple of prospective clients via referrals.

Let’s begin at the beginning.

Uber’d to Burbank Airport form my early Southwest flight (I love Southwest Airlines, by the way).  Smooth.  Perfectly comfortable ride in. Boarded my plane on time amidst the swarming hobnobbing of politicians and lobbyists on their way to the capitol.  I’m A58 today…not too shabby.  Unfortunately, the flight will be full as I overheard some C’s complaining about their boarding position so there will be a 1 hour and 2 minute fight for the armrests.  This flight is always full.

Today’s flight was especially turbulent due to the crazy weather which leads me to the event of the morning.

Now, let me tell you about the lady in the middle.  She has an obvious fear of flying, orders a Bloody Mary.  That’s no big deal, obviously.  However, she panics when the bumps get really bad and proceeds to spill her whole drink on me.  My pants and my shoes are soaked.  My jacket on the floor is soaked.  Yay.  Now, here I am trying to sop it all up with those ever so absorbent airplane drink napkins.  “Better keep them comin’”, I repeat to the now flustered flight attendant.  The lady next to me apologized very repeatedly the rest of the flight.  I felt bad for her as she seemed she wasn’t going to feel good about her day for a bit. Once we land and we exit the plane, I take a look to assess the damage.  It looks like it torrentially rained ketchup on me from my waist down.  No big deal.  Just go to the bathroom and clean myself up.  After some creative wetting, wiping, rinsing and drying…I was good as “almost” new.

You know how they say you should always make a good first impression.  Well, I’m off to my prospect that I’ve never met before straight from the airport.  This should be good.

It was good.  It was a great ice-breaker, as it turned out.

The prospect is a non-profit organization in charge of maintaining the Pacific Crest Trail that runs all the way from Canada to Mexico.  Very cool.  Had a great time getting to know the HR Director and the organization in order to best understand the ways in which I can be of some help to them.  Another generous employer who also values the employees and their well-being.  It’s always great to see.  And, there appears to be a real opportunity to offer some much improved services and options that could really benefit them were they to move their business to my agency.  As Hannibal from the A-Team always said, “I love it when a plan comes together”.

The rest of my day was consumed with working from the hotel room office, getting spreadsheets and PowerPoint’s prepared for the next few days meetings.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Super-Agent out.
